USB
USB (Universal Serial Bus) is a common symbol that identifies the connection type for a device. USB devices are usually very quick and easy to install. Modern computers have 2 to 10 usb ports to support various peripherals. Number of usb ports can be easily expanded by purchasing a USB hub. USB hub’s take up 1 usb port on the computer and open up 4 to 7 additional usb ports.
Current USB devices are high-speed 2.0 compliant.
Firewire
Firewire (IEEE 1394) was developed by Apple for high speed data transfers. It is an alternative to USB data standard. Most current computers have firewire connectors in the front and it the back. Firewire is used to connect a limited number of camcorders, hard drives and specialized peripherals. Firewire compatible peripherals are not as common as USB compatible peripherals.
